This project stems from my personal heritage. Both of my paternal grandparents were originally from Aleppo before moving to Beirut. I've always wondered how even through hundreds of years of migration and persecution, Aleppan culture and traditions have stayed so present and strong.

Where is Aleppo?

Aleppo is a city in the north-west of Syria, about 50km from the border with Turkey.

It was one of the region's important trade centres because it was on the trading route connecting the Mediterranean, Mesopotamia and Persia. The Jews of Aleppo , known as Halabi Jews, have lived in the city for more than 2000 years.
